Balanced Calendar vs Traditional Calendar

We are excited to move into our 3rd year of offering families the option to choose a “Balanced Calendar” approach to the school year!  Not to be confused with “Year Round School,” the “Balanced Calendar” option balances out the Traditional Calendar by providing students and teachers breaks throughout the school year.

The Balanced Calendar option allows students to participate in optional “Enrichment Intersessions” during the breaks, ultimately leading to less learning loss as compared to the Traditional Calendar.  What are Enrichment Intersessions? This year, Intercessions consisted of FALL FEST, AMAZING ANIMALS, READER’S THEATER and PERFORMING ARTS, and MIND and Body.

Enrichment Intersessions would be available to families for $10.00 per day, and scholarships will be readily available.  The “Balanced Calendar” option provides families with the same main breaks that the Traditional Calendar offers, such as a two week Holiday Break in late December, as well as Spring Break the last week of March/first week of April.  Our district will offer the Balanced Calendar “school within a school” approach at Pullen and McGuire Elementary for the 2021-2022 school year.
